Leo and his friends loved playing basketball, but one winter, Leo noticed an unkempt yard on their street. Unable to ignore it any longer, he told his friends, “I really can’t stand seeing this yard dirty.” They laughed, but Leo insisted, “I’ll catch up with you all later.”
Leo spent the entire afternoon cleaning the yard, raking leaves, and trimming bushes. He hesitated to ring the doorbell, not wanting to intrude on the old lady who lived there. The next morning, Abigail, the elderly neighbor, opened her door with delight, having watched Leo’s hard work.
“I’m so happy to be breathing some fresh air for a change,” Abigail told her neighbors. “Yesterday, I saw a kind young man cleaning my yard. He is such a blessing.” Realizing their neglect, the neighbors decided to thank Leo.
On Saturday, they visited Leo’s house, waking him with their calls. Leo was surprised to see his neighbors with gifts, thanking him for his kindness. “Thank you for helping me clean my yard. You are heaven sent!” Abigail said.
Since then, the street remained clean, and the neighbors declared every Sunday afternoon “neighbor day” to help each other out.
