Teen mom Brianna Rawlings, 18, faced a heartbreaking choice when diagnosed with NK cell leukemia. Doctors advised treatment, but it meant ending her pregnancy. She chose to carry her baby, sacrificing her own chance at survival.
Her son, Kyden, was born three months premature via emergency C-section after Brianna developed a blood infection. He lived for only 12 days, but Brianna cherished every moment. “Those 12 days I was able to spend with my baby boy Kyden, holding him, counting his toes and fingers, and talking to him like I would when he was in my tummy. They were just so special, they were the best 12 days of my life!” she shared.
Determined to survive, Brianna started treatment and initially showed progress. However, her condition worsened, forcing doctors to cancel a bone marrow transplant. A costly trial drug was attempted, but after just two rounds, she lost her battle with leukemia on December 29, 2018.
