This Girl Was Traded to an Older Man for Money as a Child — Now She’s a Famous Actress who Managed to Reconcile with Her 3 Daughters

Demi Gene Guynes, born on November 11, 1962, had a turbulent childhood. Her birth father left her mother after two months of marriage, and her stepfather’s job instability led to frequent relocations. At 12, Demi underwent eye surgeries and suffered kidney dysfunction. She discovered her stepfather wasn’t her biological father at 13 and eventually moved in with her grandmother. She left high school to pursue modeling and acting, marrying musician Freddy Moore in 1981.

Demi’s career took off with a role in “General Hospital” and films like “Blame It on Rio.” Her breakthrough came with “St. Elmo’s Fire” in 1985, followed by hits like “About Last Night” and “Ghost.” By 1995, she was Hollywood’s highest-paid actress for “Striptease.” Despite her professional success, her marriage with Freddy ended after five years. She then married Bruce Willis in 1987, with whom she had three daughters.

Demi’s memoir “Inside Out,” released in 2019, revealed her difficult childhood. Her parents battled alcoholism, and her mother attempted suicide when Demi was 12. Demi saved her mother multiple times and learned her stepfather wasn’t her birth father at 13. She also recounted being traded to an acquaintance by her mother at 15. Despite these hardships, Demi understood her mother’s inability to protect her.

Demi’s relationship with her daughters, particularly Tallulah, was strained. Tallulah felt abandoned during Demi’s marriage to Ashton Kutcher. However, they reconciled after Tallulah’s self-reflection. In 2020, Tallulah shared on Instagram her renewed bond with Demi, stating, “I witness what this day means for you, and where you came from.” Today, Demi enjoys a strong relationship with her daughters, who supported her memoir and have grown closer through shared challenges.
