We lived a happy family life until Tony, my husband, announced his dream of starting a business was coming true. However, he also mentioned that his mother, Cynthia, needed to move in due to health issues, and she could help with our daughter, Lisa. Despite my reservations, I agreed.
After Cynthia moved in, Lisa became cranky and sleepy. One night, I discovered Lisa sleepwalking while clutching a teddy bear Cynthia had given her. Concerned, I mentioned it to Tony, but Cynthia dismissed it as normal. Oddly, money from Tony’s wallet ended up in my purse, which puzzled us both.
Determined to find answers, I followed Lisa one night and overheard Cynthia instructing her to take money from the safe. I woke Tony to show him, but he didn’t believe me. The next day, I checked the teddy bear and found a device inside. I confronted Cynthia, and she admitted to using a walkie-talkie to manipulate Lisa into taking money.
Tony, furious, demanded Cynthia stop her manipulations. She apologized, expressing a desire to be part of the family. We agreed to move forward with caution, aiming to rebuild trust and unity for Lisa’s sake. “I promise I’ll make it right,” Cynthia vowed.
