Man Who Took ‘World’s Saddest Photograph’ Explains Why He Didn’t Save The Little Girl In The Picture

In 1985, Colombia’s Nevado del Ruiz eruption killed over 23,000 people. Among the victims was 13-year-old Omayra Sánchez Garzón, trapped neck-deep in debris for 60 hours before dying.

French photojournalist Frank Fournier captured her final moments, creating a haunting image that sparked global outrage. Critics slammed him for photographing instead of helping. Fournier defended his actions, saying: “I felt totally powerless in front of this little girl, who was facing death with courage and dignity.”

Rescue attempts failed due to thick mud and lack of proper equipment. Fournier added, “I felt the only thing I could do was report properly on the courage and the suffering… and hope it would mobilize people.”

Despite backlash, Fournier’s photo won World Press Photo of the Year in 1986 and remains a powerful symbol of the tragedy.

Heartbroken Mom Issues Urgent Energy Drink Warning After Daughter Dies Aged 28

Lori Barranon from Orlando is warning about the dangers of energy drinks after her 28-year-old daughter, Katie Donnell, died of a heart attack. Barranon said, “If you don’t keep your kids away from this stuff, you may be in my situation where your life is ruined.”

Katie, a fitness enthusiast, consumed up to three energy drinks daily, plus pre-workout supplements and coffee, to fuel her intense schedule. “One of her friends said she’d hardly see Katie without an energy drink in her hands,” Barranon recalled. After collapsing during a night out, Katie spent 10 days on life support before her mom made the heartbreaking decision to let her go.

Doctors noted no pre-existing heart conditions but linked her caffeine intake to heart problems. Barranon believes energy drink abuse caused her daughter’s fatal heart attack and now demands stricter regulation: “I think energy drinks should be banned.”

Health experts warn that excessive caffeine can trigger heart attacks, especially when daily limits are exceeded.

Known for confronting the most dangerous bulls, Fandiño fatally tripped on his cloak, fell, and was gored in the chest. His final words were heartbreaking: “Hurry up, I’m dying.”

Witnesses watched in horror as the bull punctured his lung. Despite efforts to save him, Fandiño’s heart stopped en route to the hospital.

Fandiño’s death reignited debates about bullfighting, a controversial tradition still legal in parts of Spain and France. Humane Society International stated, “Bloodsports like this should be consigned to the history books.”

People only just realising who Prince Louis really looks like in new birthday portrait

Prince Louis is turning seven, and a new portrait shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales has fans buzzing—not just over how grown up he looks, but who he resembles.

Captured by photographer Josh Shinner, the photo shows Louis smiling in a woodland setting. Instantly, royal watchers pointed out the strong family resemblance. “Prince Louis takes after his grandfather,” one fan wrote. Another added, “He looks so much like Catherine’s father.”

Many noted how fast the young prince is growing up. “Wow, 7 y/o already!? Time flies,” a user commented. Another said, “Terrific photo. Wishing Louis a fun family day, a delicious homemade cake and a great year.”

Born on April 23, 2018, at St Mary’s Hospital, Louis’ full name is His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge. Now, as Prince William holds the title Prince of Wales, Louis’ title may shift accordingly.

The internet seems to agree on two things: he’s growing fast—and he’s definitely a Middleton at heart.

  • Donald Trump slammed over proposed birth incentive for women to have babies as people make important point

Donald Trump slammed over proposed birth incentive for women to have babies as people make important point

Donald Trump’s proposal to offer a $5,000 “baby bonus” to boost the U.S. birthrate is being met with major backlash. With fertility rates dropping to 1.62 births per woman in 2023, Trump is pushing incentives like tax breaks, menstrual education funding, and Fulbright scholarship preferences for married parents.

But many Americans say the math doesn’t add up.

“$5,000 won’t even cover the copay on the hospital bill for the birth,” one person wrote. Another added, “That’s six months of Pampers!”

The average cost to raise a child in the U.S. until age 18 is over $237,000, according to a 2023 study cited by The Guardian. Meanwhile, birth expenses alone range from $10,000 to $18,000, and monthly baby costs are between $1,100 and $2,500.

“So who will cover the other $295,000+?” one user asked.

Critics say the plan ignores the real reasons people delay having children—financial instability, housing, healthcare, and career sacrifice. As one parent bluntly put it: “I have two toddlers, and I’m broke.”

  • Mom who was fatally shot texted suspect’s name to friend in final moments

Mom who was fatally shot texted suspect’s name to friend in final moments

A tragic triple homicide in Birmingham, Alabama took a chilling turn when one of the victims, Arkia Berry, texted the name “Jaco” just moments before being fatally shot alongside her 6-year-old son, Landyn Brooks, and boyfriend, Eric Ashley Jr.

Jacorian “Jaco” McGregor, the alleged shooter, appeared in court on April 17. Det. Jarvelius Tolliver testified that surveillance footage showed a lime green Kia Soul arriving at Echo Highlands Park at 5:07 p.m.—minutes before the victims’ car. By 5:09 p.m., Berry had texted “Jaco”, and one minute later, the Kia was seen speeding away.

Ashley also made calls to contacts saved as “Jaco” and “Jac” that day. Cell phone records placed both Ashley and McGregor’s phones at the crime scene.

“Berry texted [McGregor’s] name right before she died,” Tolliver told the court. However, McGregor’s defense attorney countered, “That doesn’t mean he was the shooter.”

While prosecutors argue the evidence is enough to proceed, the defense claims it’s all circumstantial. The case is expected to go before a jury.

Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke has opened up about his 13-year marriage to Arlene Silver, 53, and how their 46-year age difference never got in the way of love.

The Mary Poppins star met Silver backstage in 2006. “She walked by and for some reason, I just jumped up and said, ‘Hi, I’m Dick,’” he told People. “There’s something about her… it got me — and I was right.”

Despite early criticism, Van Dyke said “everyone [said] it wouldn’t work,” but added, “We get along so well.” Silver agreed: “It’s eerie how well it works. People the same age don’t last.”

The couple shared their story at the Vandy Camp event on April 20, highlighting their support for one another. “He made me feel like I can do anything,” Silver said.

Van Dyke credits his youthful energy to “genes” and “a beautiful young wife to take care of me.” He also swears by a positive attitude and regular exercise: “I still go to the gym three days a week… exercise is the answer.”

Wife of man killed in shark attack reveals his heartbreaking final act moments before tragic death

Barak Tzach, 45, a father of four from Petah Tikva, tragically died after a shark attacked him while snorkeling off Hadera beach in northwest Israel on April 21.

Disturbing footage showed onlookers calling emergency services as Tzach screamed for help. Authorities later confirmed the discovery of his remains. His wife, Sarit Tzach, shared his final moments on Facebook to silence rumors.

“Barak entered the water to dive and document the sharks, not to feed them or play with them,” she wrote. Equipped only with a snorkel and a GoPro, he was maintaining distance and using the camera stick to gently steer sharks away.

A fisherman who witnessed the scene said Tzach was calmly swimming back to shore when the attack occurred. “He filmed from afar… when they got too close, he nudged them away,” Sarit added.

Local officials have since warned the public to stay out of the water and avoid contact with the wild sharks that frequent the area, including dusky and sandbar species.
