Why Donald Trump Isn’t Welcome at the Met Gala Anymore
Trump’s Long Absence
Donald Trump, once a Met Gala regular, hasn’t been seen at the event since 2012. Although he often attended with Melania, a resurfaced 2017 clip of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour may explain his absence. When asked on The Late Late Show if there was anyone she’d never invite back, Wintour replied bluntly: “Trump.”
Social Media Reacts
As this revelation resurfaced during the 2025 Met Gala, reactions flooded online. One user joked, “They have standards,” while another wrote, “Kamala Harris is there… he’s probably SEETHING… GOOD!” The decision seemed political for some, amusing for others, and surprising to many who remembered Trump once proposed to Melania at the Met Gala.
A Special Night Turned History
In 2005, Donald proposed to Melania with a $2 million ring during the event. Fans recalled, “He loved going.” But the tone has shifted — what was once a place of romance and glamor now seems firmly closed to the former president.
Conclusion
Whether banned or just excluded, it’s clear Trump’s Met Gala days are over — and the internet isn’t missing him.
