Emilie Dequenne tragically dies at 43

A Promising Star Gone Too Soon
Belgian actress Emilie Dequenne has died at 43 following a battle with adrenocortical carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Known for her roles in Rosetta and The Missing, she passed away in a hospital near Paris, as confirmed by her family and agent.

A Brave Fight
Dequenne revealed her diagnosis in October 2023 and shared updates throughout her journey. In April 2024, she gave fans hope by posting, “I was close to forgetting because I was leaving the hospital today after 13 days… What a tough battle.” She later confirmed she was in remission and looked forward to returning to work.

Legacy in Film
Her breakout role in Rosetta earned her Best Actress at Cannes in 1999. She continued to impress with roles in Brotherhood of the Wolf, The Girl on the Train, and Our Children. Her final film, Survive, was a dystopian drama released in 2024.

“I know I will not live as long as planned,” she said in her last TV interview. Dequenne is survived by her husband, Michel Ferracci, and their daughter.
