A Long-Awaited Transformation
Virginia Elder, a Texas Tech graduate, spent over a year preparing for and recovering from double jaw surgery. Diagnosed with an underbite and previously battling scoliosis, she began orthodontic treatment in 2023 and decided to document the full journey online.
Courage Through the Camera
Virginia openly shared each phase—braces, surgery, swelling, tears, and healing—via TikTok and Instagram. “I was close to forgetting because I was leaving the hospital today after 13 days… What a tough battle,” she once shared. Her raw updates resonated with millions.
Setbacks and Progress
Though she experienced post-op complications, including an infection that led to plate removal, her steady progress inspired many. By month six, her new jawline was visible; by month ten, the transformation was stunning. “Some days, I feel like I don’t recognize myself,” she admitted.
An Empowering Legacy
At the one-year mark, Virginia reflected on being pain-free and confident. “Thank God, my friends, and my family for supporting me on this journey.” Her transparency offers a rare, powerful roadmap for others facing similar surgeries.
