In a 2016 concert in Gilford, New Hampshire, Keith Urban spotted a couple in the audience holding up signs. One sign read, “can I play your guitar?” while the other sign mentioned it was the man’s birthday.
Urban invited the man, Rob Joyce, on stage after confirming he could play guitar. Joyce’s girlfriend, Lex, praised his skills, suggesting he should be Urban’s backup guitarist. Urban handed his guitar to Joyce, who impressed the crowd with his talent.
Urban then launched into his song “Good Thing,” giving Joyce the chance to shine with the song’s difficult guitar riffs. Joyce played flawlessly, even singing harmonies at some points. “Killed it! He totally killed it! That was badass, man,” Urban exclaimed to the crowd.
Later, Urban shared a video on his Facebook page, thanking the audience and giving a special shoutout to Joyce for his unexpected performance.
