Lorde’s new album Virgin, released on June 27, has stirred buzz—and controversy—thanks to its bold cover art. The image features an X-ray of a body in jeans and a belt, showing the spine, pelvis, and even an IUD. But one nurse pointed out something unexpected: the white blobs near the tailbone are likely feces.
Fans were stunned. “There’s a lotta poop in there,” one person joked online. Radiology sources confirm that white splotches like these can be signs of stool in abdominal X-rays—something most didn’t expect from an album cover.
The surprises didn’t stop there. Vinyl buyers discovered a photo in the album packaging that clearly shows a vagina through see-through pants. While it’s unconfirmed who it belongs to, fans assume it’s Lorde’s—and many were not ready. One fan wrote, “Just opened the Virgin vinyl… I wasn’t ready for that jumpscare.”
While Lorde hasn’t commented, reactions have ranged from praise for her artistic boldness to shock at the raw imagery. Either way, Virgin is making noise—and not just for the music.
