Luca Trapanese, a 41-year-old single, homosexual man from Italy, defied societal norms by adopting Alba, a baby girl with Down syndrome. The heartwarming story gained attention as social services typically pose challenges for such adoptions.
Luca, who had previously worked in care centers for people with special needs, challenged stereotypes about fatherhood, religion, and family through his extraordinary journey. In a BBC interview, he shared, “It destroys stereotypes about fatherhood, religion, and family.”
Alba faced rejection from her biological mother and 20 potential adoptive families due to her condition. Luca, undeterred by societal biases, embraced fatherhood and adopted Alba at just 13 days old. “She brought me happiness and a sense of fulfillment. I am proud to be her dad,” Luca expressed.
