Tom Hanks And Rita Wilson Say Their Long-Lasting Marriage Is Not ‘Hard Work’

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, both 66, have been a Hollywood power couple since their marriage on April 30, 1988. They have two sons together, Chet and Truman, and Tom has two children, Colin and Elizabeth, from a previous relationship.
They first met in 1980 on the set of “Bosom Buddies.” Hanks recalled, “Rita and I just looked at each other and — kaboing — that was that. I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn’t be denied.” At the time, Hanks was married, but they reconnected in 1985 on “Volunteers” and began their relationship after his divorce.
Wilson marked their 33rd anniversary in 2021 with an Instagram post: “33 years of marriage to my BFF, my lover, my man. Love wins. ❤️” Fans and celebrities like Julia Roberts and Viola Davis shared their congratulations.
Hanks once joked, “I still can’t believe my wife goes out with me… We just like each other. You start there.” He added, “They say it must be hard work — no, it’s not. It’s actually more pleasant to go home with someone you like to spend time with.”
Their mutual respect and affection keep their marriage strong, making them one of Hollywood’s favorite couples.
