Fans React to Weight Loss
Ariana Grande’s appearance at the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards has reignited discussions about her weight. Photos of her signing autographs led to comments like “scarily skinny” and “terribly thin.” One fan wrote, “I hope she can turn this around before it’s too late. I’m sure her organs are working overtime.” Another added, “She clearly has an ED and needs help.”
Speculation and Concerns
Many fans believe her appearance signals an eating disorder. “There is Hollywood skinny, then there’s not ok skinny, and she is not ok,” one person noted. Others expressed worry, saying, “She’s just skin and bones.” Some, however, saw improvement: “She was smaller than this at one point.”
Expert Analysis
Dr. Patrick Wanis explains that fans form a “parasocial relationship” with celebrities, making physical changes more noticeable. “The public has grown up with her and sees her through nostalgia. Any change is magnified,” he said.
The Pressure of Fame
Female celebrities face immense pressure to meet unrealistic beauty standards. “The public expects them to strike an impossible balance—thin but not ‘too thin,’ natural but not ‘too real,’” Dr. Wanis explained. While Grande hasn’t responded, fans continue to hope she prioritizes her health and happiness.
