Ashton Kutcher Wanted to Give Own Heart to His Twin Who Was Told He Had Weeks to Live

Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher shares a powerful bond with his twin brother, Michael, shaped by love, resilience, and life-threatening illness.

Born fraternal twins, Michael faced serious health challenges from birth, including cerebral palsy and viral cardiomyopathy. At just 13, doctors gave Michael only weeks to live. Things worsened after a cardiac arrest. Ashton, desperate to help, told their family he wanted to give Michael his heart. Michael later recalled: “It’s a connection that you can’t explain.”

Though Michael survived, there were bumps along the way. When Ashton publicly revealed his brother’s cerebral palsy, Michael was furious. “I was very angry… I didn’t want to be the face of cerebral palsy,” he admitted. But that moment changed everything. Inspired by a young girl with the condition, Michael embraced his identity and began advocating for disability awareness and organ donation.

Ashton once said during a tribute: “My brother taught me that loving people isn’t a choice.” The twins’ journey—from childhood adversity to becoming advocates—continues to inspire others through their unwavering love and support.
