Daughter Kicks Dad Out of Her Wedding, Having Just Walked Her Down the Aisle Earlier: ‘He Called Me Crying’

On February 5, 2022, a woman shared her emotional story on the “AITA” subreddit. Despite her parents’ divorce and ongoing conflicts, she dreamed of a wedding where both parents participated in traditional roles. Her dad walked her down the aisle, and she wanted a photo with both parents.
During the family photo shoot, the bride asked for a picture with her mom and dad together. However, her stepmother refused, insisting it would disrespect her marriage. The bride noted, “[My father] told me he loved me very much but that his wife wouldn’t be comfortable with it and so he couldn’t.” Hurt by his refusal, the bride disinvited her father from the first dance and other key moments.
Despite her father’s pleas, the bride asked him to leave the wedding. “He called me crying the next day, and wanted to talk,” she recounted. She told him he still had another daughter with his current wife, but he assured her she was irreplaceable. The bride grappled with her decision, questioning if she had been too harsh.
