On July 2, Sean “Diddy” Combs was found guilty of two lesser charges related to sex trafficking but acquitted of the most serious offenses, including racketeering and trafficking by force. Despite avoiding major convictions, he was denied bail, with the judge citing him as a public danger.
Inside the Manhattan courtroom, Diddy dropped to his knees in prayer while his family clapped quietly. Outside, however, smiles and hugs from his relatives drew mixed reactions online. Critics slammed their behavior as inappropriate, with one comment reading, “Why are they smiling?”
Photos and videos of the courthouse exit show family members—like Janice, King, Chance, and Quincy—smiling, waving, and even blowing kisses, which some saw as celebratory. Others, however, defended the family’s unity, saying, “I’m happy for the man and his family.”
Diddy’s legal team also appeared relieved, smiling and laughing during a press conference. The mixed reactions have fueled online debate, with the public divided over whether the family’s response was hopeful or disrespectful. The case remains a lightning rod for emotions nationwide.
