Alan Hamel, 88, is dating actress Joanna Cassidy, 79 — a former co-star of his late wife, Suzanne Somers. The two were recently spotted in Malibu, smiling and holding hands. They’ve known each other for 45 years, and their romantic connection was reignited thanks to Hamel’s son, Stephen, who reintroduced them.
Hamel confirmed the relationship and praised Cassidy as “hardworking, kind, and no Hollywood BS.” He added, “We laugh a lot,” and called himself lucky to have her in his life. Fans online had mixed reactions — some supportive, others critical. One person wrote, “Suzanne would want him to be happy,” while another said, “It didn’t take him long.”
Before passing in October 2023, Somers reportedly told Hamel not to “mope” and encouraged him to live fully. They shared 55 years together, and Hamel honored her memory with a heartfelt letter describing their bond as “indescribably wonderful.”
While grief remains, Hamel is embracing his new chapter with gratitude. “Most men would love to have a Joanna in their life,” he said.
