Ron Howard, 70, renowned for directing “A Beautiful Mind” and “Frost/Nixon,” started his Hollywood journey as a child actor, playing Opie on “The Andy Griffith Show” and Richie Cunningham on “Happy Days.” His theatrical background, with parents Jean Speegle and Rance Howard as Hollywood actors, shaped his early career. Despite his fame, his family ensured he enjoyed a normal childhood, limiting his work in productions like “The Music Man.”
Ron and his wife Cheryl raised their four children in a $27.5M mansion at Conyers Farm, New York. The estate featured a New England-style mansion, a guest house, an indoor sports facility, riding trails, and a farm. The 17,200-square-foot home included a library, theater, six fireplaces, bedrooms, and bathrooms. The sports complex had a saltwater pool, gym, yoga studio, and sports courts.
Spanning 32 acres, the estate included a guest house with lake views, perennial gardens, a koi pond, and an organic vegetable garden. Ron remarked, “I did not want to raise my kids in the center of Tinseltown but instead wanted them to enjoy their privacy and have a normal childhood.” The estate hosted weddings, parties, and fundraisers, making it ideal for gatherings.
Ron and Cheryl, married since 1975, have four children: Bryce Dallas, Paige, Jocelyn, and Reed. Bryce, an actress and director, has starred in “The Help” and directed “Vanity Fair: Decades.” Ron credits their marital success to “honest communication,” cherishing his family’s achievements as his biggest win.
