Kate Middleton debuted a new eternity ring in a surprise video with Prince William, celebrating Team GB’s efforts at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the Instagram video, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales sported a classic Ralph Lauren Breton stripe top and a delicate gold choker. However, fans quickly noticed she had swapped her iconic sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring for a different band.
Some speculated it might be the garnet-and-pearl ring Prince William gave her while dating, as it includes both their birthstones. However, this new ring is a full eternity band, featuring stones all around, unlike the half-set original. Whether this is a new piece or incorporates sapphires like her engagement ring remains unclear.
Despite the ring’s significance, it was Prince William’s new beard that garnered the most attention. Fans took to the comments, with one saying, “William is slaying the beard,” while another wrote, “I had to watch that again, just to see William’s stubble – wowza!”
Although there were expectations for William to attend the Olympics, he and Middleton—still undergoing cancer treatment—opted out. Kate did make a public appearance at Wimbledon last month but is expected to retreat from public life again soon.
