Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom confirm split, will co-parent daughter

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have confirmed that their romantic relationship is over. In a joint statement on July 3, 2025, their representatives said the pair would focus on raising their young daughter together.
What the statement said
The statement, released through their representatives and reported by People, the Associated Press and others, did not use the word “breakup.” Instead it described a gradual change.
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” it said.
It added that the two would “continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
At the time of the announcement, Perry was 40 and Bloom was 48. Their daughter, Daisy Dove, was 4.
Why the statement came now
The confirmation followed weeks of reports and online speculation that the couple had quietly separated. On June 30, Bloom shared inspirational quotes on his Instagram Story, including one attributed to the Buddha: “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters most,” USA Today reported.
By addressing the “abundance of recent interest” directly, the statement was designed to settle the question while keeping the focus on their child. USA Today noted that People and Us Weekly had reported in June that the engagement had ended.
Speculation grew in late June, when Bloom attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Venice, Italy, without Perry, USA Today reported. Perry was in Adelaide, Australia, that weekend for a run of four concerts on her Lifetimes Tour.
A nine-year, on-and-off relationship
Perry and Bloom began dating in 2016 and briefly split about a year later. They reconciled by 2018, and Bloom proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2019, according to Today. People noted that the announcement came about nine years after they first got together and six years after their engagement. They never married.
Perry announced her pregnancy in March 2020 in the music video for “Never Worn White,” and the couple postponed wedding plans amid the pregnancy and the COVID-19 pandemic. Daisy Dove was born in August 2020. Bloom is also father to a teenage son, Flynn, with his ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, Today noted.
Bloom had spoken openly about strains in the relationship. “We’re in two very different pools,” he told Flaunt magazine in February 2023, as reported by Today. “Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie.” In April 2024, he told Today that Perry was “super supportive. We both are of each other.”
