Liam Neeson, 72, has shared heartbreaking news that has left his fans emotional—he is retiring from action films. The beloved Irish actor, known for his commanding screen presence, stated, “I’m 72—it has to stop at some stage.”
Neeson, who skyrocketed to action stardom with Taken (2008), has since led a string of successful thrillers. However, he now feels the physical toll is too great, admitting, “You can’t fool audiences.” He also wishes to reduce reliance on his longtime stunt double, Mark Vanselow.
Despite stepping away from action roles, Neeson remains active in Hollywood. His upcoming films include Absolution, Thug, Cold Storage, and The Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky. He is also set to star in a comedic role in The Naked Gun reboot.
Beyond his career, Neeson reflected on personal losses, notably his wife Natasha Richardson’s tragic passing in 2009. He credits family support for helping him through. As he transitions to new roles, fans celebrate his legendary career while hoping to see him in fresh, less physically demanding performances.
