A mom is facing online backlash after naming her twin boys after her favorite band, Oasis. She shared her story on Mumsnet, expressing her disappointment at how people reacted.
“I have always been a massive Oasis fan (sorry Blur fans) and they have influenced me and inspired me throughout my entire life,” she wrote. Naming her sons Liam and Noel, after the Gallagher brothers, felt like a tribute. “I thought it was a sweet idea, but people seem to frown and laugh thinking it’s a joke!!” she added.
The Gallagher brothers were key figures in Oasis, one of the most iconic bands of the 1990s. While the names hold deep meaning for the mom, public opinion has been divided.
Some commenters supported her choice. “Liam and Noel are actually pretty nice mainstream names,” one wrote. Others were more critical: “I’m not surprised they laugh really.”
Despite over 200 responses, the mom remains unsure. Feeling judged and “hurt,” she’s now rethinking a decision that once made her proud.
