Jordan Chiles dazzled with her floor routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning gold in the women’s gymnastics team event. Despite her impressive performance, she won’t compete in the all-around final. This marks another milestone in her notable gymnastics career, which includes a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and multiple medals at the 2022 World Championships.
Jordan’s journey began at six, with her parents enrolling her in gymnastics to manage her high energy. “My family had to sacrifice a lot of things,” she acknowledged. By eleven, she was competing at the elite level. However, she faced significant emotional and physical challenges, leading her to temporarily leave the sport in 2017. “I didn’t think the sport wanted me anymore,” she admitted.
Simone Biles played a crucial role in Jordan’s comeback, offering support and training together in Texas. “You belong here,” Biles told her. Jordan stepped in for Biles during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, helping Team USA win a silver medal.
Despite personal losses and body-shaming, Jordan continues to excel. Her stunning floor routine in Paris earned her high praise, although she missed the all-around final due to a rule limiting two gymnasts per country. “She was freaking awesome, need rule change,” one supporter commented. Despite this, Jordan remains a celebrated athlete, embodying resilience and excellence.
