At Pope Francis’ funeral in Vatican City, a quiet moment between Donald and Melania Trump caught attention. A lip reader claims Melania gave her husband a subtle push to engage in a tradition called the “sign of peace,” where attendees shake hands.
According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, Melania told Trump, “You should go do it.” After some hesitation, Trump reportedly replied, “Oh, alright,” and went on to shake hands with world leaders like France’s Emmanuel Macron and Finland’s Alexander Stubb.
The funeral drew hundreds of thousands, including major global figures like Prince William, President Zelenskyy, and President Macron. Melania Trump at Pope Francis’ funeral played a small but memorable role with her quiet encouragement.
However, Trump also faced backlash. He wore a blue suit instead of traditional black, and critics slammed him for discussing trade deals before the funeral. Social media users called his actions “disrespectful.”
Despite the controversy, Melania’s gentle reminder helped Trump participate in an important moment of respect and unity at a solemn gathering.
