Former Vampire Diaries and Lost star Ian Somerhalder, once crowned one of Teen People’s “Sexiest Guys Ever,” has traded red carpets for rural living. Now 46, he lives on a farm with his wife, actress Nikki Reed, and their children—focusing on nature, family, and sustainability.
After starring in Netflix’s V Wars in 2019, Somerhalder stepped away from acting. He hasn’t taken a professional role in five years, saying, “I walked away at the peak,” choosing instead to focus on documentaries, farming, and environmental causes.
The couple grows their own food, limits their children’s screen time, and works on projects like “Kiss the Ground.” Somerhalder also champions better pet food and farming through Greater Ground and NUTRO.
Despite his quiet lifestyle, fans can’t stop praising him online. “Ian is like wine—the more time passes, the better he gets,” one wrote. With piercing blue eyes and a grounded spirit, he continues to captivate hearts worldwide.
